Mack! At this
time the Madame Melville play in New York is over. The last
performance was june 24th. Mack's return to New York brought on a
lot of publicity in Magazines as well as on TV shows. I'm sure a lot
of you have read or seen it, but let me give a you a recap and
thereby inform those who didn't get to see it. As Mack put it:
"It is weird to be back in New York, but it feels
good."
For his role in Madame Melville,
Mack was casted by Billy Hopkins, the same person that casted him
for his role in the play at Ensemble Studio Theater when he was 6
years old. He said that Mack is still pretty much the same, except
he was not smoking back then. Of course an other difference is that
he does not have to look for change left behind in the theater after
the show. Mack has acquired him fame and the money that came along
with it. Still that didn't mean his life has been easy.
He
has always enjoyed acting and still does. It all started off as a
great adventure. In 1988 riding his bike in the beach scene for
Rocket Gibraltar, where the director had to run him down cause Mack
wouldn't stop after he shouted 'Cut'. Then of course playing with
John Candy in Uncle Buck was big fun, but even then the drawbacks
already presented itself. As being away from home for 3 months, when
you're a 8 year old, is a very long time.
Then of course with Home Alone in 1990
came his breakthrough and his life changed beyond control. While at
first the changes in his life seemed to be enjoyable, now it turned
around and he found himself in an isolated life that was basically
not his own. People he used to know suddenly were awestruck when they
saw him and he could not go anywhere without being threatened by overwhelming
fan reactions. No matter the disguise, he would always be recognized.
He found his only way out to be hiding inside and watching TV. His
life as a child basically stopped when he was 8 years old.
While his father kept the pressure
on by taking him from one movie on to the other, Mack's nightmare
grew and he could not get away from it. These brought on hard times
in the relationship with his father that let to his departure from
the family. In a way that made it all feel better, but in fact life
as being a famous person didn't change.
One of the reliefs
from these hard times was when he got to meet Michael Jackson. When
Mack was 9 years old Michael called the family and invited them to
come visit him at Neverland. Mack and Michael have become very good
friends. The two of them understand each other very well, because in
a way they both still feel 8 years old, the time when their life
changed and became public property.

Being in Neverland was the greatest thing. They
could be sure they were save from stalkers and free to be
themselves. Also Michael's private Zoo was of great interest. Mack
is a big animal lover, he use to have lots of stray and sick animals
in his apartment that he took care of. His own private zoo, or as
some called it Noah's Ark.
Now a days Mack still loves animals
and enjoys taking care of his cats. The other love in his life is
Rachel Miner. They met during the time both of them went to the Professional
Children school. During his time in High School, Mack just wanted
to have a great time. By this time he, Kieran and Shane had moved
into their own apartment and Mack tried to get away from his live
of fame. He choose not to end up as a rich family kid, hooked on parties
with young photo models and drugs. Instead he dyed his hair purple
and hang out most of the time with his friends from school, pseudo-punks
acting their age in mischief. Mack behaved pretty much like any upper
class west end kid.
Still in school Mack had a hard time
fitting in and he dropped out a few credits short of graduation. It
was during this time that he met Rachel Miner. Even though they didn't
have a great start when they first met, they still ended up dating
and having a good time. The both of them come from a background where
family comes first and they did find themselves spending time on helping
out the younger family members with their homework. The two of them
had broken up already 3 times and then Mack decided to marry her before
she could break up a 4th time. At first it seemed to be the right
move, but now a days they live separated from each other. They still
talk to each other, but they need time to work things out. Rachel
has recently been involved with a movie called 'Bully' that opens
July 13. She plays a pregnant florida teen who plots her boy friend's
murder, including heated up scenes with graphic sex and nudity.
For Mack his new involvement in acting as with Madame Melville marks
the closing of a chapter in his life. He feels like he stepped into
a new life and that he inherited the money from a kid that worked
hard for it. He is happy working on his performances and enjoys life
by going to parties, clubs and bars. In time he wants to have kids and a
family life, but for now he wants to be young and have fun. With the
Madame Melville show cut short he will have the time to enjoy summer.
As I'm sure he will. Recently he was spotted at the New York Central
Park AIDS fundraiser where he had a good time with the ladies. What
will be next for Mack?! On one hand it is said that he still considers
to play Michal Alig in an upcoming movie based on the book Disco Blood
Bath, while on the other hand there is talk about a photo shoot related
to a new play.
For now we have to
wait and see. As Mack put it: "I just want to meet people,
live life, and spread my pixie dust throughout the
world".
